Writer/Editor specializing in the arts
Louise T. Guinther grew up in Forest Hills, New York, a quick subway ride from the cultural wonders of Manhattan. After getting her BA from Vassar College, she landed a dream job at Opera News, starting as an editorial assistant and working her way up to senior editor, a role she remained in until the magazine printed its final issue this fall. Her duties included shepherding all the magazine’s content from manuscript through publication, copyediting, overseeing the fact-checking process, managing sections and departments and writing both feature articles and regular columns. She particularly enjoyed her many chances to interview the great artists and creators of the opera world.
Louise’s writing has appeared in Playbill, Opera Cues, Encore the San Francisco Opera program and, of course, Opera News. In her spare time, she managed publicity and wrote the book and lyrics for several musicals with the Gingerbread Players theater troupe.
